I don't know what is out there , but this collection would be a smart way to cover him .

If you can get it cheap . Essentially you want the best from his Savoy recording, and the best from his Dial recordings . This stuff has been packaged , and repackaged a million times . If you get a "best of", or "essential" , make sure it is not the latter material .
Also the ,"Jazz at Massey Hall" concert is a must .

In fact if you had to get one disc to represent the early Bebop era, that would be a good one .

I do not know of DD's first rec , but I wholeheartedly concur with Massey Hall . Essential .
